Risk & Compliance Officer

As a Risk & Compliance Officer, you play a crucial role in strengthening our Security, Risk & Compliance capabilities and supporting a future-proof energy system. Through governance, performance management, compliance monitoring, and data-driven reporting, you directly contribute to the reliability and security of the Dutch electricity grid.
About TenneT, the Unit, Department and Team
TenneT is the leading European Transmission System Operator (TSO) and plays a key role in the energy transition. With more than 23,500 kilometres of high-voltage connections and nearly 5,000 employees, we ensure a secure and reliable electricity supply in the Netherlands.
You will join the Security, Risk & Compliance (SRC) department. This department is responsible for strengthening governance, risk management, compliance processes, and security performance across the organization. The team provides transparency into risks, compliance obligations, security initiatives, and improvement activities, supporting informed decision-making at both operational and strategic levels.
Within the SRC department, you will work closely with professionals focused on Information Security, Risk Management, Compliance, Governance, and Reporting. Together, you contribute to maintaining and improving the security and resilience of TenneT's critical infrastructure while supporting the organization's strategic objectives.
The work carried out by this team directly contributes to the security, reliability, and future readiness of the Dutch electricity network.
The Role
How do you help keep the Netherlands powered? As a Risk & Compliance Officer, you support the Security, Risk & Compliance team by improving governance processes, monitoring performance, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and providing actionable insights through data analytics and reporting.
Your responsibilities include:
• Maintaining and continuously improving the team's Key Results framework in oBoard, ensuring alignment with departmental and organizational objectives.
• Monitoring progress, risks, dependencies, bottlenecks, and compliance initiatives while providing transparency and actionable insights.
• Creating, coordinating, and tracking improvement plans, remediation actions, and compliance-related initiatives.
• Driving continuous improvement by facilitating corrective and preventive actions and monitoring successful implementation.
• Designing, developing, and maintaining Power BI dashboards and reports related to Security, Risk & Compliance performance.
• Translating business requirements into meaningful KPIs, Key Results, management reports, and performance indicators.
• Delivering executive and operational reporting on compliance status, risk trends, audit findings, security metrics, and improvement initiatives.
• Ensuring data quality, consistency, governance, and adherence to reporting and visualization best practices.
• Developing and maintaining data models, reporting frameworks, technical documentation, and data definitions.
• Supporting management with insights and recommendations based on data analysis.
You will work closely with Security, Risk Management, Compliance, Governance, Audit, and Management stakeholders throughout the organization.
What Do You Bring?
• minimale 6 years of relevant experience in Security, Risk Management, Compliance, Governance, Business Intelligence, Performance Management, or related disciplines.
• Proven experience with Power BI, oBoard, KPI frameworks, reporting methodologies, and data modelling.
• A completed HBO or WO degree in Information Technology, Information Security, General Security, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Demonstrable experience within IT and Information Security Risk Management environments.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into meaningful insights and actionable recommendations.
• Experience with compliance monitoring, governance processes, risk reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• A structured, proactive, and results-oriented working style.
• Fluent English language skills. Dutch is considered a strong advantage.
Important
• This position combines Security, Risk & Compliance expertise with strong data analytics and reporting capabilities.
• Power BI experience is considered a key success factor for this role.
• Experience in Information Security and Risk & Compliance environments is strongly preferred.
• The ability to translate business requirements into KPIs, dashboards, and management insights is essential.
• Experience with oBoard or similar performance management tooling is highly desirable.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills are required due to the cross-functional nature of the position.
Practical Information
• An AIVD security screening is mandatory for this position. The selected candidate may only start after successfully obtaining the required security clearance.
• A Pre-Employment Screening (PES) is mandatory for all successful candidates.
• Location: Arnhem (MCE and/or Rijnpoort) 1 to 2 days a week in the office more is possible but not nessecery.
• Start date: ASAP, after AIVD clearences.
• End date: 12 months later
• Hours per week: 40.
• Grade: 9.
• Freelance (ZZP): Yes. This assignment is suitable for self-employed contractors.
• Extension option: possible.
• Interview process: 2 interview rounds. 1st online with the team, 2nd onsite with HM.
Additional Information
• For TenneT, we no longer work with the indirect self-employed (ZZP) construction. When submitting a candidate, this can still be indicated; however, the engagement will automatically be converted into a fee-only construction. In this case, the supplier is required to deduct €1.45 per hour from their margin. Furthermore, suppliers will automatically be removed from the supply chain after one year. Please take this into account when submitting candidates.
• Suppliers are expected to be familiar with applicable employment legislation, labour conditions, and the TenneT Collective Labour Agreement (CAO).
• This assignment is classified in Grade 9 of the TenneT CAO.

Screening
• If the candidate is selected to start at TenneT, a pre-employment screening will be conducted.
• The candidate may only start after successful completion of the screening process.
• The AIVD application is part of this process and must be completed before the start date, condutected via TenneT.
• Candidates must possess a valid passport or identity card that can be presented during the interview process and on the contract start date.
Availability
• Candidates must be available for the full duration of the assignment.
